86-88 the 5sp and auto are both "rated" at 146 hp,

RWHP (to the ground) a 5sp fc ussually has 110-115 hp, an auto might dyno a few hp less

not joking, and i think your reading 2960, that sounds about what the plate should list. heres what i found for manual tranny 1986 Mazda RX-7 GXL 0-60= 8.5 1/4 mile = 16.5. So i can assume that the auto tranny is going to be slower and factor in the cars age.

a sport model FC which is pretty much the lightest, since base models dont come with aluminum hoods, is about 2625 lbs,

an auto, loaded gxl model weighs around 2800 lbs

there is a number printed on the door that is about 1960lb,however it is the "gross max weight" or somthinge along that lines, which that is the MAX amount of weight u can put in the car before it will crush/damage the car, theres also a number around 980 or so which states the max gross wegiht that can be put on each axel, for instance if u try and load 1300lbs in the hatch the rear suspension will probably crush....

looking in the door nowhere does it say "curb weight" which is the weight of hte vehicle

ok 9 Secs is kinda slow. Even for an automatic. Would the Cat exaust, new plugs & wires, Fuel filter, air filter, and a tune up make it any better and if so how much.

A tune up (replacing the fuel/air/oil filters, plugs, etc) will just get you back to the stock levels.

In other words, should get you back to the 9 second 0-60.

with old parts and an out of tune engine, you probably are a second or two slower than even that 9 seconds.

If you accelerate 0-60 in 9 Seconds in a Stock Auto I would call BS as well. I don't think I could do 9 seconds in my 87 5sp when it was stock.

My old 87 sport when stock regularly hit a 7.6 0-60. Both Car and Driver and Road and Track had simular numbers back in late 85 for a Sport as well (actually as I recall- and I am trying to find the article, Road and Track got a Sport down to 7.4 on one run.

And even a stcok 88 non P-package vert does 9 seconds.

So if you couldn't hit 9 seconds in a manual tranny non turbo S4, you either suck as a driver, or there was something wrong with your car.
