HP JSPEC mufflers

Quick question. I just found these on ebay and it's about to be done. I was originally going to get apex catbacks for my GTU but I'm thinking this might be a good deal to save money and all.

Opinions, quick?

Looks like a rice can to me. Anything with a 3.5" tip or higher is too much IMO. It might sound ok but your gonna get laughs.

Yeah I know, I know. I was wondering if they are good or not. I think I'll wait on this one.

Goodnight all, Merry Hannukah Mistletoe or whatever they were counting about. Crazy Americans, wearing those goofy number glasses. Leno and Letterman must be having reruns of their new year shows or something.

There is no such thing as a "J-spec" muffler. That's pure marketing BS to con you into thinking it's better than the crap it probably is.

Yeah, it looks like marketing. The fact thats its called the HP Racing Jspec2 kinda makes me think thats just the name of the muffler. Im sure there are mufflers that are only sold in Japan, but I dont think that makes them J-spec.
And I dont think tips larger than 3.5" make it rice. My Apex N1 has 4" tips on it, and it actually looks ok. Besides, I dont think anyone could mistake my car for a ricer. Its got bondo on the bumper cover, the paint is oxidized to hell and the interior looks like ****.

I know it's just a name they're using, but it's the inference of superiority pisses me off. People have been sucked into thinking "J-spec" means "better", which is complete BS. Plus, the term J-spec (and JDM also) only applies to OEM parts, not aftermarket.

If it was a quality product, such deception wouldn't be required.

Well, I'll most likely get an Apex'i catback with 3.5" or whatever comes on it. Thanks for the opinions. I figured the "J-spec" thing looked like bovine feces from the beginning.

I have a 5in tip on my car... I wish I had gotten a 6in tip.. I smile everytime I look at it. I love it when people comment about it and they don't know I'm the owner of the car
