Temp Gauge

I have an 88' GXL and my temp gauge is acting weird.. Some days it will stay around 1/4 way up, others it will be 1/2.. If I run the thermostat on full blast with it on cold the temp gauge almost gets all the way up.. Is this normal or not?? Could the radiator need to be flushed and the engine thermostat replaced?? Thanks for the help and advice..

Jimmy

You should do that anyway, as it is probably long overdue.

NZ is right. When I first get a car or when I help friends with there cars the first thing I do is a full tune up. Everything that would be done at the 60k interval. It eliminates many problems and possible causes of the ones that arn't eliminated.

yeah, what they said. I've also added Redline's Water Wetter http://www.redlineoil.biz/redline3.htm and seems to work well for me, specially during the summer. One more thing, get a temp. gauge, that way you know exactly what you are running. I bought the SummitRacing temp. gauge and i'm also happy with it.

Good idea - using the ash tray space for gauges.

It's a bit low really. If that crappy old stereo has replaced with a decent single-DIN one you could fit the gauge(s) above it.

I don't like how new stereos look on the FC. When i get anything to replace the old, I'll prob. install a PC screen that ocupies that whole space instead (Music, Nav, TV)
