How well does FC sustain in hot temperature weather.

Arrow How well does FC sustain in hot temperature weather.

Hi, guys i'm going drive tomorrow to the drift event held by Formula D in sonoma and I know its going to be hot there. So my question will the FC having trouble in the weather like maybe to a 100"F, I have a non turbo and what should I need to be worry about. thanks, any help its great.

Hey i'm driving my NA FC up there tomorrow to. I know my car will be fine with stock radiator... You have an S5 so the stock temp gauge sucks, you won't know it's overheated untill it's to late. But unless you're beating on it all the way up there you will be fine. It will help if you have the stock lower radiator panel on, especially on the highway. And make sure nothing is blocking the radiator.
If you see a white S5 GXL say what's up, don't spit on my car! haha

I live in AZ with stock s4, we see 100+ temps almost everyday haven't had an issue yet, except when my water pump went out...but that's beside the point.

I daily drove my FC nack in PR for years; never had a cooling issue. You should be fine, assuming your car is in good working conditions.

My NA made the drive to sevenstock no problem. I doubt you'll have any issues.

My TII with Koyo radiator and no turbo heat shields does fine in 110 degree weather.

The 7 runs just as fine as any other car its age. Keep in mind your cooling system is 16-21 years old.

This does not relate to the cooling system...

One summer I got stranded over and over during the hottest part of the day. I would drive somewhere, be away from the car for 30 minutes or so. I would return, start the car and try to drive. The car would reach around 1200rpm and then die back down to idle.

Eventually I realized that the plastic plunger on the TPS was getting stuck as I depressed the gas pedal. This was due to the excessive heat somehow.

I now, especially during the summer, clean the plungers every now and then with a Q-tip and keep them lubricated with WD-40. WD-40 may not be the best thing for this but it seems to work for me.

Seeing that WD-40 is a solvent and not a lubricant, you are correct. And if you indeed used a lubricant you may not have to do the q-tip deal as much or ever... If you want to clean it with WD-40 that makes sense after it's clean dry it and lubricate with something that will stay for a while.

Duct tape and JB weld, and bondo "work" and "fix" things too, but there are usually better ways and more application specific products that will do the job better.
