How strong is your e brake

How strong is your e brake. i have nothing to compare mine to. it feels very weak to me but that might be normal. it barely holds the car on a slight incline. is anyone able to lock your tires up with it while moving?

yeah mine isnt very powerful either.. it's ajdusted fine, with a new cable (less that one year old). It fully engages like 4 clicks up. My pads are ok, but I think my rotors are toast. (were very rusty, and look pitted from the rust)

Mine isn't so powerful. It is OK for most stuff, but it won't hold the car on steep hills.

It can't lock up the wheels while moving (unless of course you are in a hard turn)

make sure your rear cables are lubed and still attached. my e brake was really weak because one of the rear cables came off somehow.

The one in my 'vert has always worked great, the one in the turbo does now but at one time a strong breeze would have moved the car on level ground. Had it adjusted, cables, pads, etc checked and now it's fine.

Check the haynes manual or the fsm....there should be pics in there.

But ya i'm in the same boat as all of u...everytime i engage it in someone's driveway (ones with an incline anyway) the car tends to roll back a bit. Kinda gay..but i'm in the middle of trying to fix it at the moment.

LMAO. I had an Integra that did that once. It hit a lady in the parkinglot of where I worked. It pinned her between it and a pickup. It was the funniest thing. That must have been one slow *** woman.

If adjusting the handle doesn't work, you can adjust it at the calipers (just like the throttle cable).

My blows at full up, like I can't get it to move anymore, it will still "creak" on an incline.

Leave it in proper gear to make sure.

Dont know if this question really fits in here and i dont want to thread jack but I just did a 5 lug swap from my 4 lug and with the original e brake cable I have not much room to pull the ebrake. Its like going from going from forward alllll the way back to going forward and 1 / 4th the normal range, do i just need to reroute a 5 lug cable for full range or adjust the orginal or just deal with it

I've been told it's possible to fix the weak FC e-brake by buying a new cable and making sure it's routed properly (not tangeled with anything else). Then taking the e-brake cover off (in car) and getting in there with some WD40 and a brush and giving it a reall good clean, Then of course adjusting it nice and tight, oh and a decent set of rear pads.
Mine's weak as **** for locking the rears up when driving but holds the car fine on hills, I was told by someone who's managed to get his to lock up his 18's really easy that that's the way to do it, i'm going to try it eventually.
