I bumped into this while looking for boost sensor info - btw, ne1 know what the wire looks like that is supposed to be grounded from the boost sensor to help eliminate 3800 stumble? It's brown, but what size/colour are the hesh marks?

damn complicated way to say look above the jack behind the carpet and remove 2 10mm nuts, unplug the wires and replace with a regular mast antenna.
Come on guys we are 2nd gen owners not 3rd gen owners we can get our hands dirty and improvise a solution.
But I still want an FD they need some crass blood.

The absolutely easiest way......
Remove the driver side taillight.
This way you dont have to rip all your interior out in the area.
(Just some of it.)
Also, the rear spoiler it removed with a 10mm socket and removal of thumbscres in the area just behind the antenna and in the same place on the other side.
Dont forget that at the corners of the fin, there are special snaps that are nearly impossible to remove.
Unless you replace the broken plastic snaps (they will break) the fin will be a tiny bit loose at the corners.
But my suggestion to remove the taillight while sounding radical, makes the job incredubly easier!

This a FB or a FC????
Removing the tailight is the access for/works for the SA/FB.
For a FC:
Remove the speaker cover,
Remove the driverside hatch release cover
Remove the upper plastic trim panel inside the hatch area next to the hatch seals
Remove the jack and assorted hardware
Pull back the carpeted trim panel
Lossen the mast nut on the antenna (outside the car)
Unbolt two 10 mm bolts holding the antenna body in.
Unscrew the mast nut on the antenna, you will want to hold the antenna or it will drop.
Lower the antenna down, unplugging the antenna cable and Molex plug.
Lower the antenna body so the top of the mast clears the access hole. Then pull out the antenna body and mast slowly, when it sticks, unplug the drain tube from under the power antenna.
There you go.
Hey as a hint, when you re-install the antenna, tighten the mast screw finger tight, then align up the two 10mm bolts, finger tighten them, then tighten the mast nut all the way, then tighten the two 10mm bolts.
This prevents the antenna from pulling the body down and giving yourself a dimple around the antenna hole in the body of the car.

the instructions i gave was for the FC.
After all this is the 2nd Generation Specific (1986-92) forum.
Removing the taillight can reduce the frustration of removal.
And why in the world would I remove the speaker cover and all that trim?
It comes out fine when removing the taillight and then the antenna,
Also it helps when you have a fin to remove too.
what is an "SA"?

You have only 4 screws to remove the speaker cover. You can get away without removing the cover if you are careful, but for his first time it would seem prudent to recommend this for him. The upper plastic trim, has a small lip the runs under the speaker cover. I personally have changed a antenna without removing any of the trim, but I am not gonna recommend it to someone that has not done it before, or that I can not judge the condition of the plastic.
The SA was the first gen RX7 if you look at the Vin.

When I pulled my power antenna out I lifted the carpet where the jack is and the little carpeted panel that hides the jack accessories, it was very easy. And I dont know about ya'lls FC's but the only way through the sheet metal behind my tail light is where the bulb sticks through. My friends FB however .... much easier through the tail light.
And I didnt take the Turbo style wing into concideration cause I dont have one.
