how much would you spend???

I recently had an accident with my car. They boy shop gave me a quote that almost made me choke on my gum. The idea of parting out my baby seriously crossed my mind. But I would want to make near what I put into the car out of parting. The biggest expense was a rebuilt engine by pinapple racing (www.pineappleracing.com). It has apporx. 5000 miles on it. It is street ported with stage 3 oil mods, and high pressure water seal. Its an s5 N/A engine. I was wondering how much would you pay for it? How much should i expect to get? thanks -Jeremy

My opinion is the un-informed opinion of someone who has never bought an engine in his life:

$1000

(I'd do some real research if I was really wanting to buy an engine, so that figure would probably change lots)

a rebuilt S5 motor should sell for about $1500. I would suggesst just picking up another NA (they are a dime a dozen) with a blown motor and drop yours in and be done with it.

Actually, it's a major, major pain. If you intend to use the S5 electronics as as well, then significant reqwiring need to take place under the dash.

Far easier to use the S5 block and continue to use the S4 manifolds/electronics.

You'd be lucky to get that even, FC owners are cheap, especially on engines that come out of someone's car. You could use any car really, so long as it comes with an engine in it, you can just swap the intakes/front cover/etc onto the s5 block and drop it into a s4.

If you are into swapping, you need all the S5 wiring, instrument cluster and a few other odds and ends. If you are into rewiring, you will need the time and knowledge to totally seperate the emissions and engine harness from the body harness so you can run the S5 ECU as a seperate entity.
