I own a third gen so Im not to sure about stuff on the second gen. Help me out with what you think it is worth. The guy wants 7k I think it is worth it but Im wanna know what the experts think. Thanks.

thats a little high... but the thing is finding another car in the same quality is probably next to impossible... basicaly the seller can ask whatever they want for a car like that and eventualy they will get it... you might be able to talk them down about a thousand...

7k?!?! holy ****...

You can get CLEAN series 5 verts all day long *especially in winter* for 4-5k. You can get clean turbo converted verts when they come up (rarely) for 6-8k. ****, I'd sell mine for 11k, with all the new stuff and mods.

7k is way high (about double) the value of an 88. They usually go for $2500-4000.

Book is probably about $4500, the low mileage only adds a couple hundred bucks on a old car - on a couple year old car it adds thousands.

But book and collector value are different, thats if you make the argument a RX-7 vert is collectible.

As others have said you can definitely get one cheaper but not likely better. For a true low mileage car in excellent shape the value is up to you-how much would it cost to get one in worse shape and restore?

I would try to talk him down to 5 or 6 grand, use the book value and any small problems you can find as bargaining tools. Depends on how quickly he wants to sell.

I paid $4400 for a 88 vert with 104,000 miles but very good original condition 2 years ago, thought it was worth it.

I say just show him what the BB value is for it, maybe he doesn't know better and he put that price on it thinking thats what it was worth, and once you show him evidence that he may not get that kind of money for it, he may lower it. Or he might just know that what he has is pretty rare and you'll have to shell out the $7k

kbb value for the car in good condition is 4k and in excellent condition its worth about 4.5k I too feel that 7k is a little high he said he would go down to 6.5k with new tires on the car but I still feel it is only worth about 5.5k even though it is immaculant. Thanks for the info.

I paid just under $2000 for my white '88 vert. It had 2 rips in the top about 2 inches long and the Seats a little worn. I think if I had been more patient I would have gotten a better deal locally instead of getting this one from florida. All and all I think that a STOCK '88 Vert with NO visable problems should only be asking 5 or 6k. An S5 I might say 7k would be a so-so price. Thats just my 2 cents...I've only be doing this about 2 months.
