How much vacuum?

How much vacuum should my car be pulling? I have an 88 TII and at idle it usually only registers as pulling 20, sometimes 10 vacuum.

Is that about normal? What should it be pulling at idle?

20" is very strong. brand new. 15-20 is normal.

10 is not good.

it should always be the same at idle. not moving between 10 and 20...

I usually see 10-12... had 7 when my engine blew.
I haev a vac leak right now though.
Off idle power is horrible too, I have to rev it up to 1500 or so to take off without stalling it, it doesn't feel right, I'm hoping it's just the large manifold leak causing it.

The guy I just bought the car from is 99% sure it has a vacuum leak (rough idle). He says it ran like that before, and he found a line that had popped off.

So that's why I asked, I was trying to figure out if it was not pulling enough vacuum because of a leak or something.

Thanks guys.

yeah you should be seeing atleast 15 if everything is working properly. i see 16 on a good day. usually between 14-16. sometimes if my idle gets real low it'll dip down to like 12inches, but its usually 14-16

ooooooh..... rough idle too, didn't say that. You better hope that it's an intake/vacuum issue. You should be able to hear vac leaks pretty easily, check that , but do a compression test before you start trying to track down lother little things... what you described could very well be a blow seal... check it!!!!
Is it hard to start sometimes??

Yah, I need to do a compression check still. It pulls about 10-12 at idle, but if I'm driving it gets down to 20

The vac line running to the BOV was hosed, so I replaced that and cleaned out the BOV and it's running a lot nicer... the idle seems better, but since I've never seen/heard another T2 idle, I don't know if it's all the way fixed
