i put in gear oil into the shifter housing today (it was so empty that the pin was dry). I filled it up to the lower bushing. Its now spitting up oil onto the inner boot (one on the shifter itself that has 3 holes) and it makes squishing sounds when i shift into gear. Did i put too much in..?

 

I usually put in as little as possible. The oil gets onto the boots and rots them away. On one of my 7s, I removed almost all the oil and put wheel bearing grease on the linkage. Never had a problem with it.

 

yeah..it was making a lot of chirping and scary noises and now that theres oil in there the noises are gone...so yeah...
