Loop that sucker! Who needs power steering? Manual steering gives better road feel and builds manly arms and shoulders. Sucks *** for parallel parking though, and I wouldn't try to drift with it.

Actually, looping it is the wrong way of doing it. If you want to properly depower your rack you need to take it out and remove all the seals and springs inside the rack, otherwise your steering will be extremely heavy due to you pushing fluid around the rack with looped lines. The benefit is you will have less clutter in the engine bay (no pump or lines), and will never have to worry about any leaks or power steering.

As far as replacing the pump, get a quote for the part (pump) from you local parts store. Make sure to note if you have 2 or 3 lines going off the pump on yours as they vary from engine speed assist to vehicle speed assist.

The pump itself is located on the drivers side on top of the a/c compressor. Really easy to get to, take out the lines, unbolt the pump, replace with new pump. Make sure to have the front tires off the ground, fill with dextron III tranny fuild, and bleed the steering system with the car running by turning lock to lock (full left/right) for a few minutes until all the air is out of the lines.

After that your done. Depends on what you want to do with the car these are your two options....

Yup, it is. If you have 2 line pump, I have a couple laying around that are in working condition.

i dont know if I would bother with a new one, plenty of people remove them and practically throw them away.

stupid questions, but have you made sure you have fluid, the belt is tight enough, or that the lines are even connected to begin with? Maybe the old owner bypassed it and just did not want to say?
