I measured my radial shaft play at work tonight and i got and average of .015 it feels like much more but i measered it many times with diffrent indicators. How much is too much i know there should be some for oil clearance. There is no end to end play though. Thanks.

On the turbocharger itself? In most cases as long as the compressor wheel isn't making contact with the compressor housing with it pushed to one side it's fine. There will always be some slack laterally.

The clearance between compressor and housing is in the 0.5 - 0.6 mm range, so at 0.15" (0.38 mm) you're still good.

my next turbo related question what about chipped turbine blades? Not decimated but just the corners chipped evenly.on all the blades?

 

In most cases erosion of the major fin tips of the turbine is acceptable.
