as for the original question i agree with scathcart and the rest that the motor will be fine its just everything else you need to worry about i was runnd low 15s to high 14s in my na and the drivetrain just couldn't hold it, i went through tannys and axles.
but i would imagine you could fairly cheaply make a pretty fast rx-7, at least low 14s, and just go a little easy on the tranny, as for those like superrotorman who cares what they think if your faster
