Its pretty loud, but only when i first turn on my ignition and the pump primes the lines for 4 seconds. Once you start the car the noise is overcome by the exhaust noise. You could probably hear it with a fully stock car, but with an exhaust and whatnont, i wouldnt worry about it.

I have a relatively quiet exhaust so I can hear it at idle pretty easily.

We installed a walbro into our omni GLHS and it was louder than the stock 2 pump set-up of the car. You cant hear it over the strait pipe when the car is started though... if that helps any.

I couldn't hear mine at all when I first installed it, but lately its been noticable over the exhuast at idle.

My rommate has one in his dsm wired for a constant 14v, and its damn loud. You can hear it outside of the car, though probably not 20 feet away. If yours is that loud at the 9v it should be getting at idle, I'd be worried.

I heard mine A LOT when I first hooked it up and started it, but after a few times of the ignition being turned to START, I've not heard it anymore. Couldn't tell you about while driving since I am still working on some problems with my startup (T2 conversion)

Mine's wired to see full voltage and it's pretty loud. I'm running straight exhaust and I can hear it inside and outside of the car.

I heard Mikes, and it was loud enough to prompt me to get a Cosmo fuel pump instead. It's pretty annoying.

Mine was extremely loud and sounded like it was about to die. When I took it out to inspect it, the in-tank filter was completely clogged with rust. My baffle that it sat in was almost completely rusted out and I had over 2 inches of crud/rust in the bottom of my tank. I was surprised my car even ran at all. Ended up changing out both fuel filters and the tank. It has been much quiter since but still louder than the stock pump.

Might be worth checking the filter or the condition of your gas tank.

Its an upgraded fuel pump. I believe the RX-7 store at the top of this site sells them. Might be able to get some more info on them there.

I can hear mine at idle over my exhaust so I'm assuming this must be normal.

One more question, why does it make noise?

Just turn up the stereo. That's what I do. Turning up the stereo fixes all kinds of problems on my FC.

Varying degrees of sound from a pump...
At least my Aeromotive externals pumps are consistent (as loud as that may be).

Did everyone use the supplied rubber spacer for the pump? I just find it very hard to believe that you can hear this thing when it's insulated from anything metal and inside a tank full of gas. When I installed mine, I tapped 12v to it to make sure it ran and it was pretty quiet and that was sitting in my lap????

Yep, I used the rubber insulator. I think I am going to pull it back up this weekend and look at it. Because I dont remember it being this loud when it was first installed.
