How to lengthen the throttle cable?

My throttle cable is short by about 1-2 cm, making me idle at 2k RPM. I've pulled it out as far as I could, and have maxed out the adjusting nuts on the cable. The cable hasn't been modified, and was used on an s4 13b-t with s4 throttle body.

My engine is an s5 13b-t with an s5 throttle body, could that be the problem?

Right, but its an S4 NA car.

Edit: Oh. I guess it might be the 87TII in his sig... not the 86 DD.... I'm retarded.

Bending the bracket seems like a good idea. I just need 1cm, just enough to close the throttle plates to stop my high idle. My car is an s4 T2 with an s5 T2 motor.

you guys have any ideas? I'm thinking that unwrapping the sheathing on the cable a little bit will give me that extra 1-2 cm.

I've got a small block in my car but ran into the same problem... I took the gas peddle off (very easy) and bent it a few more degrees. You'll need a tourch though, it's very thick / strong! No one will notice your gas peddle has been bent either, and you won't have to fool with / bend any brakets under the hood... where people WILL notice.

Bend the bracket slightly... i had the same problem. I cant tell you why, just do it It works.

And BTW, no one will see the bracket, the intercooler covers it.

why not just get an NA cable. it doesnt wrap around the TB and gives much better throttle response.

The cable wraps around the TB because the butterflies are facing the drivers side. If I used an N/A I would have to somehow loop that over in order to use the throttle body.

The butterflies open clockwise, I don't know if they can be reversed.

i'm pretty sure you can take those off and re-assemble them the opposite direction. My buddy did it in his 87 T2. I'll try to find out how.

Could using a J-spec throttle cable bracket be the cause of all this??

youll want a little more than 1-2cm since the engine rocks back and forth a bit and you want slack so the cable doesnt snap. you could bore out the throttle cable hole on the firewall (bore towards the passenger side). this will give the cable more slack.

wait... you said you have a JDM TB? the throttle cable is different for right hand drive cars i believe since the pedals are on the other side.

It's an s5 j-spec engine. Are the throttle cable brackets different when compared to USDM? Anyone got a picture of a US spec s4/5 T2 throttle body bracket?(If that even exists)

I checked the cable fully today, and I'm gonna say that it's the bracket. Does anyone have a pic of a US spec T2 throttle cable bracket?

Does that mean that the j-spec brackets are different than the US ones? Do you have a picture of yours?
