How hard to change plugs on engine harness

There are at least 4 plugs that just shattered when I was trying to get the clips off, and I think there are some more that are broken.
So, is it as easy as just unwinding the wraping and splicing new connectors in, and where do I get the connectors? Also, what should you use to wrap it back up with?

any plugs that do not require shielded cable (the CAS needs shielded wires) can simply be trimmed back, spilced and re-wraped....

wrap them with heat shirnk tubing - then electrical tape - then the appropriate loom...

and don't be a chince bag - ALWAYS SOLDER

ditto ^

no idea where to get new connectors, the only ones i believe you can still buy are the injector clips, of which the thermosensor and BAC can be modified to accept this clip also. do some searching of this forum, i saw a part number for the clips somewhere and it was available at most auto parts store chains.

Ok, I'll check it out. Luckily, its the fuel injector clips that are damaged. 3 of them shattered and another plug that looks the same shattered. Those things must be really cheaply made.

not cheaply made, you just have to know how to handle them on moderately mile engines and after being exposed to high heat for 100K+ miles any type of plastic will become brittle.

True, and mine is a 235k+ mile engine. So what exactly is the method for getting the clip off, because apparently I know know it.

most people try to remove the clips with the wire hanger installed, this is impossible to remove them without damaging the clip, use a straight pick to remove the wire hangers completely and with care before pulling the clips off the injectors/thermosensor/BAC.

if the wiring insulator cracks you can repair it with "liquid tape" and rewrap it with new electrical tape.

Well, the connector (what you call the clips, i guess) broke when I was trying to get the wire hangers (what I called the clips) off. The plastic was just super brittle.

Good to know because that happened also.

Three years later with more knowledge, I'd like to modify this statement.

Always **Properly** solder, but even better, is properly crimped.
