I hit about 110 mph in 4th at 6000 rpm. Here is a sit that calculates how fast you should be going

I've hit 138 in 4th at about 7K

I think the car would have done 140 in 5th...that was when the car was still NA...I'm shooting for 160 now.

Depends on how accurate my speedo is. It's accurate at 70mph I know but on up there I dunno. I've read 155-160 on it though several times. West TX, long flat straight roads with no traffic. That was in 5th gear at about 7200 rpm if I remember correctly.

hmm I was at about 130 at 7~8K RPMs.
Do S4 have a higher gear ratio?

He is talking about tire diameter, not width.

tyre dia should be the same, no matter how big your rims are

diameter can be diff on same sized rims ie 245/45/16 vs 245/60/16 or 245/35/16. 35 would be shorter than the 60.

yep, what i'm trying to say is if you get new wheels the tyre specialist will sze the tyre so the overall dia stays the same.

Not necessarily. The way tire sizes work, you will not be able to get it exact. For instance, I went from the 14" phone-dials plus 4 to 18's. The tire size went from 186/70 to 215/40. If you look up some tires in those sizes, you will notice that the rolling diameter are not the same. I also suspect that if you look up 215/35's, the same will hold true.

And, btw, Anyone here got an S4 NA? I am kinda agitated b/c b4 my engine was replaced, I got the car up to 120 in 4th ~ 7k, but any shift up to 5th, and I start to lose speed. After my Mazda Reman. engine was installed, I topped out at about 118 in 4th. Granted most of these cars getting 130 140 150 etc, are Tii's and S5's, but I am curious to see if this is typical of S4 NA's. These speeds are all with my 14's. Haven't bothered runnnig with my 18's.

210km/h in 4th last October - don't remember the revs but it was above 7k.

Couldn't get her above 200km/h in 5th on the same day.

And she's an s4 (non-turbo.)

I've driven my acura to 150 redlined in fifth. never been near that in my rx7 87 NA. the acura was a 95 vtec so there was no speed limiter. plus the wind was at my back. between ashland oregon and medford oregon on I-5. My fourth gear in the rx7 is about the same as the fifth in my integra. would a 91 lsd diff shorten that ratio?

I do 100mph in 4th and come in just around 5k rpm. I rarely friggin use 5th gear cause the pull in 4th owns me!
