many threads on this, especially on how wiring them open is not the best practice. If you do wire them open... wire them open all the way..

Without the air pump you also loose thr VDI.
For less then $40 you can rig an electric pump and gain ~20HP.

Yes, there is ony by silverrotor, I am also in the works of using the stock ECU determined auxport times on solenoids for the fab'd electronic aux port activation. This saves $50 by not using an rpm switch. At the moment, it looks like its s5 dependent however.

And you don't really gain 20 hp, you mearly recover it... at best...

EDIT:
Truth is... you may be spending 10hp just to recover that 20hp...:

Coincidentaly, I caught that air pump sucking 30 amps yesturday! I don't know how much that equivalents out to on the alternator drag, but I doub't we are seeing any real improvements to be honest... 30 amps on a struggling system can put it over. I have an FD alternator... and im still a bit bugged by the high current.

All things considered... the stock setup is probably the best method. However you start ditching emissions, and you wind up with no ACV and air pump... if you drive an S5 you wind up no aux ports or vdi. Lucky be S4!

With a pressure relief set at ~5 PSI, that pump should draw <10 amps.
