Yeah, mine is like that too. I can get mine open if I push up on it while I'm pushing the button to open it.

thanks for the suggestions guys. i did a search and i tried greasing up the track but now i think i know whats wrong with it. i completely removed the interior and and actual moonroof itself too. when i tried connecting it again after cleaning everything it seems like the passenger side popped up completely but the driver side didnt. so i sort of pried the driver side open (gently though, didnt break anything haha) and then i tried moving the roof back. it seems like the passenger side moved fine along the track, but the driver side is still stuck somewhere. i couldnt see much because the it was still stuck shut mostly but i could see that the spring embedded in the track was covered in dirt and mucked up grease or something. i dont know if thats why that side doesnt move or it didnt pop up, but if you guys have any suggestions on how to fix it that would be awesome. if i can't fix it my only other idea was to find a junk yard around here with a red fc that i could swap moonroofs with. anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated cause i wanna try and get this fixed before i move in july. thanks again, nick

If you have the sunroof out of the car, try blowing it out with a high high pressure compressor. I have access to my next door neighbor's and it helped a lot with it in the car. Out of the car, you should be able to get to the spot you saw easily. Maybe a service station will help you out if you ask nicely.

If that does not work, It might be a broken cable on the side that is not moving. If so, new cable or a bone yard replacement of the entire assembly. If you go entire assembly, clean well before installing.

awesome, ill try that. its weird cause the motor makes a grinding sound when i move it. it sounds like the gears are skipping on that side or something. does that sound like a broken cable? if it is do you think i could pick one up at the mazda dealership here? and approx. how much would it cost? im runnin on a tight budget as is almost every kid my age haha. anyways thanks for the suggestions.
