how do i know if my car has hard or normal suspension

i went to go buy a new brake booster for my 87 t2 and the guy asked if it has hard or normal suspension. i dont really see how that makes much difference for the brake booster but apparently it makes 90 dollars worth of difference. i havent got a clue how to find out which on i have. any help would be great

if you have the auto adjust suspension(aas), go with the heavy duty. for some reason they ask that instead of just asking if you have four piston or single piston calipers. Cars w/aas have 4 piston, cars without aas have single piston. You'll know if you have aas if there's a switch for it right behind your shift console.

the S5 5lug GTU has normal suspension.

true, if you have aas you have the heavy duty stuff, but cars without aas don't all have single piston fronts. aas only came standard on GXL models, yet you will find 4 piston front brakes on many others.

S5 coupes all have the same suspension as far as hard or normal is concerned.

This thread was about S4 cars where aftermarket parts are labled hard/heavy duty suspension or normal suspension.
