How can i tell if a TIi trans is s4 or s5?
As the title states. I have a tii trans in my garage and I need to know if its s4 or s5. Every tii trans I have had has looked the same but they were all in swapped cars so I cant be sure of the year. Thanks in advance.
s4 has the conventional mounting boss for a "block" rubber mount common to most earlier mazdas
s5 uses a mounting boss that has a V edged profile, and uses a multi rubber V mount
( there is also extra room inside the rear section to hide a balance weight )
s5 also has syncro 1st./ rev , the s4 will clunk !

I wish I was driving!

Completely false.
First of all, the synchro sharing between the gears are 1-2, 3-4, and 5-R.
Secondly, both the S4's and S5's are synchronized for all gears, including reverse. Mazda part numbers for the blocking rings are: first gear- M502-17-265A, Reverse- R503-17-265A.

The 5th gear switch is only for the shift up light and triggering the split air solenoid on US ACVs. My shift up light comes on in 5th gear, but no other issues, haha.
