cluctch pedal switches?
cluctch pedal switches?
there are 2 switches mounted against the clutch pedal and i was wondering what would happen if i bypass the one closser to the firewall? and what does the other one farther away from the firewall do?
the firewall side clutch switch is for the starter interlock. bypassing that will let you start the car without the clutch being pressed.
the switch closer to the driver is for the cruise control and some other ecu related functions. With it being bypassed open you can't engage cruise control and the engine may not fuel cut during decel.

Why are you disabling the safety switches? What are you trying to accomplish? There might be a better way.
The lower clutch switch will TURNOFF the CRUISE CONTROL if the pedal is DEPRESSED. You can take that switch off and put it on the shelf and the cruise control will still function. See the attached jpg for a series FOUR car. See the FUEL AND EMISSIONS section on how the pedal works i.e. makes/breaks.
It also sends 12vdc to the ECU when depressed. Best I can tell that has something to do with the injector fuel cut when you let off the pedal. In normal driving if you let off the pedal just a little bit, the front rotors injector will be disabled. If you let off the pedal all the way, both fuel injectors are disabled until approx 1300rpm or so, then they come back online. It's for DRIVEABILITY (sp?).
Upper switch is the Interlock switch like they say above. If you pull it's plug off and jumper the two wires in the PLUG, the clutch pedal does not have to be depressed to start the car.
Second jpg is out of a series five FSM.
