Your question contradicts itself.

Faster and more power in most cases means poorer gas mileage.

Not cost effective. The money you spend putting in the engine, you will most likely never pay off the difference from boosting a TII to ~300hp and getting 14mpg. Just buy a Camaro for 8k if you want an LS1, if you want a SR20DET, buy a 240... et al.

If you want a piston FC, get a 944.

you have no idea what you're talking about. There are PLENTY of guys getting 27+mpg w/ their LS1 FCs/FDs.

Plus you have the whole reliability debate blah blah blah.

The LS1 is the most cost effective way to have over 300+hp reliably, oh and 400hp is just a cam away.

A larger exhaust system and muffler will give a fairly decent power increase. Im looking to have one on my 87 Series IV by the end of the year. A full service and dyno tune would also help.

Other than simple things, you are looking at big bucks. Engine porting, engine seals, ECU, injectors, puel pump... that sort of stuff.

27mpg? Maybe on the highway. I'm well aware of the power potential and what not of a V8 (look were I live). However what is this swap going to cost you? 6 or $7,000? Sounds like a total PITA to me, just buy the Camaro, I have nothing against it plenty of people are rocking them around here with +500hp (and getting 12mpg).

So you get 5 mpg better, but you spent another X,000 to get it, how long will it take to pay that difference? When looking at FDs I thought a piston swap would be great because of the fuel economy and rebuild costs. Bottom line swap = 2 rebuilds and 3 years of hard driving to see a cost bennifit.

9 out of 10 cars on the road are FAST while 9 out of 10 drivers are slow .

#1: become a better driver
#2: get sticky tires
#3: don't act like an asshat

Those are the 3 main ingredients to having a fun/fast ride. If you care more about street racing and yearn for lethal oversteer (read: drifting), see #3.

the reason for the swap is 7's are light weight and handle well, they can still do that with a LS1, if i could have goten a LS1 7 at least nearly done i would have jumped at it.

eh..... what do you mean by faster? Faster in the corners? Or faster in a straight line?

1. Become a better driver
2. Keep up with maintenance on your engine
3. Upgrade your suspension/bushings
yatta, yatta

Then work on your engine for more power, that comes last.

Power + bad drivers = tragedy...

for the cars.

If your running a straight pipe on your car, you may have messed up your actuators. Make sure that the 5th and 6th ports are still functioning. This can definitely put a damper on your power.

little ***** like that that shouldnt be more than $300, which could leave you in the high 15s, like 15.8
or
you can buy some neon lights that would make you look faster

definetly rip out power steering and ac and smog pump, but if you want your car faster your going to get worst gas milage because you are going to be flooring it all the time.

Best advice ever. As so many here even have stated and in other threads. An RX with a Rotary engine apparantly seems to be just garbage. There is no point ever in trying to modify a turbo engine or an NA engine because its either "sucks" or won't be worth the gains.

As so many here have stated in so many words.

Go buy a Camaro or buy a V8 RX, nothing else apparantly is worth it to modify.
