Hot wire on top of alt touched ground, now car wont start, anyone?

Hey, i was working on the water pump fixing a small leak and took the hot wire on top of the alt off and just let it hang (it wasnt touching anything, had the rubber boot on it) and i leave it like that and i put the water pump back on and just leave it be for the night to let the RTV dry. Well i get up this morning and it wouldnt start, and i look at the wire and its touching the manifold!!!!! HOLY ****! its been grounded out probably all night, the batt is still good, and the wire still has power (something i dont understand) but now the car wont start. Im getting power to the coil, and im about to go check my injectors to see if they are firing, thanks

everything works on it. i have power to the coil packs, and it just turnes over and over and over, at a constant speed. Pretty much like its flooded, but its not. Makes no attempt to fire up.

It is flooded i didnt think about it when i was over there... you dont need an alternator to start the car and if you are getting power to that wire then it is not shorted.

If that wire touched something grounded, you get a spark and that's pretty much it. It won't blow any fuse.

Are you sure it's not flooded ??

does it have fuel? i think the stock security system has a fuel interrupt, if i remember correctly. i had a similar problem back when i had my n/a and left a 4 ga. ground loose in the engine bay. i think that's what it turned out to be, but back then i had the money to pay someone else to fix it, so i'm not sure.

you could make it up to me by telling me there's something other than a blown coolant seal that can overpressurize your coolant system.

The starter would not turn if the 80amp fuse was blown. Check to make sure the ENGINE fuse in the crew compartment isn't blown nor the 40amp in the engine bay. https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1413155

Long way to ask: You got spark?
