hose size?

hose size?

i need to replace the hose in my 1991 gxl that runs from below the oil filter into the firewall, i was wondering what size it was. i havent taken it off yet because i dont want to lose all of the coolant
EDIT: Do i need this hose? or can i cap it off

I'm assuming you're talking about the coolant line. You need it and it's a shaped hose so just a regular hose won't work because it will kink. Get it from Mazda.

doesnt it just go to the heater? so if i cap it off i wont get heat?

no, you have to bypass it to the other side of the engine. you can use 5/8 inch heater hose, you just have to be careful not to kink it.

Yes, if you cap it, you lose your heater function.

You can't use regular 5/8" hose, cause of all the bends.
You really need to just drop the $30 and get the Mazda OEM hose to replace it.

i used a normal 5/8ths hose, i just bent the copper fitting on the fire wall towards the driverd side, emergency fix. still works to this day, also if you just plug that one side wouldnt your coolant stop flowing.
