Horrible Gas mileage and strange reving behavior

Well, after filling up five times (full tanks) within 450 miles, I have decided that its definitely time to address this issue. Averaging about 6mpg, it has started to really dig into my pockets. I do have a heavy foot, but that should not result in such mpg #'s.

I did the test with the electrical system, and the only item that came up was the fuel resistor. I borrowed a friends, but didnt have enough time to see if it affected the gas milage. The performance didnt seem to be affected.

The engine was also rebuilt around 5k miles ago. The spark plugs were checked and nothing seemed really out of the norm. The car did pass emissions.

Another issue, which I am not sure if it is related, is that the car will, for the most part, only rev up to 6500rpm. Sometimes, though rare, it will spool up normally past redline. The car does seem sluggish, though I am not sure how much power it should have, being a convertable with an n/a engine. The lower end of the rpms seem to lack power, and it will sometimes stall if the a/c is switched on or if you steer while not moving.

Any ideas as to what could cause these problems?

Bad ignition or fuel? You check your filter and plugs? This is always a good plae to start.
