I have an 87 gx.(na) Whenever I acclerate in any gear around 3000 to 4000rpm, I hear a rattling noise from my hood near the dash. (front end) I think the noise is coming more from the engine room than the dash but, it is quite annoying and been wanting to get rid it for a few years. Any ideas of why it is doing that, and a possible cure?

 

Have you tried sticking your head under the hood and using the throttle linkage to rev the motor to 3-4k while you listen? Or getting someone to rev the motor while you listen with the hood closed, or from below the engine bay (with the car jacked up, of course)?

There is a LOT of **** bolted into that area. Use your ears.

 

I have done that, it only doee it while the wheels spins(while driving on the road) not when I simply rev it.

 

Just noticed you're in Canada. Whereabouts are you? If you're not too far away, I'd be happy to help you try to find the cause (in person.)
