hood problems...

I replaced my stock 91 NA hood with an aluminum 88 vert hood today, it seems to fit fine and looks good but its hard to latch (i have to push down on it real hard)
any suggestions?...

aluminum hoods have a different latch then the steel ones. I have the same issue right now. But i bought my aluminum latch yesterday and just need to switch it over

i was talking about the latch that sits on the car. Sits close the the front of the hood. In between the headlights. Never though about changing the parts on the hood
