Holset HX40 S5 Turbo FC
Hi all,
I recently did a kind of custom turbo setup on my fc and I just wanted to share it I didn't find another of info about holset when researching what I wanted to do so here it goes. I got an S5 turbo hotside and had it machined out to a Holset HX40 . I went with the OEM 12 blade 67mm exhaust wheel which is inconel. The compressor side is 63mm. I used an S5 exhaust manifold that I ported to match the rotor housing. The manifold did need to be flipped 180° so that the compressor cover would clear the water pump. To make the turbo fit in a 180° fashion the bolt holes need to be widened by 2mm on both sides of the hotside flange. I also had to get a spacer to space out the manifold. I used a 13b manifold flange that was over half an inch, and got longer (65mm) inconel exhaust studs from a random canadaian website. The oil feed is a -4an and the drain is a -12an 90° that feeds back into the stock return location. The motor is an S5 t2 Bridgeport, the cascading hole porttype. The turbo makes 15 psi at 4k and makes 18psi at 7k and I need to upgrade my stock wastegate actuator before more boost.
