Hold Button On Autos

Hold Button On Autos

Im sure this ha been asked but I need to know.Does the hold button really hold out the gears because my friend said it does but I dont know. Mines a 5 speed so I wouldnt know and im just startin to get into rotorys.

Yes, it does.... except 2nd Gen's don't have a hold button.

My friends is a 90 gtu like mine and it has hold button on it. thats why i asked because i thought it was only on the 3rds.

The hold button will hold your tranny in the gear shown on the indicator. If you have the car in "D" or 3 It will stay in that gear even when you stop for a red light. When you start off you'll be in 3rd. Also if you leave it in that position it won't drop into overdrive on the highway. 1st and 2nd are self explanatory.

I used this feature on start up. I would push the hold button and put it in drive. It would stay in third and stay at low RPMs until I could get out of the neighborhood.

WHY Do all this??? 007 smoke screen would start as soon as the engine would start to warm up. high RPMs would help the smoke screen develop.
