You didn't mention which HKS catback...they make a few different systems. I have an HKS 50 mm Sport catback system on my 90 GXL. Probably had it on the car for 6 or 7 years now. Seems to be holding up fairly well...the flanges seem to be thinning due to rust however. The HKS Sport catback comes as a complete bolt-on system. The HKS mufflers will not work with the stock Y-pipe. The HKS Y-pipe is much shorter than the stock Y-pipe, and the consequently the pipe extending from the rear of the HKS muffler is much longer than the stock muffler pipe. In other words, the HKS and stock components are not interchangeable, except for the gaskets. The only thing that I didn't like about the HKS exhaust were the gaskets that they provided. The HKS gaskets were some type of fiber material. I bought the Mazda metal gaskets and used them instead of the HKS gaskets. I also used studs rather than bolts to attach the Y-pipe to the rest of the system.

Contact HKS about buying another Y-pipe...I'm sure they'll sell you one. I believe they have a website at www.hksusa.com. I had a Borla catback before the HKS, and was able to buy a new Y-pipe from Borla. Sometimes there's a long wait when you order parts from the manufacturer.

You could buy the large mazdatrix Y-pipe for $160 if it doesn't have to be HKS. The hks dual exhaust on my TII has one presilencer before the Y and one smaller one on each branch of the Y.
