high rev and bucking problem

high rev and bucking problem

I have a 1987 TII and need some help with this, when I first start my it runs fine
untill you give any gas at all then it revs to about 1400 rpm and not come down
also is bucking on deceleration anybody what is wrong

I would think that your clutch is slipping. When you let off the gas and the clutch no longer just slips but hits rivets slowly the pressure plate and flywheel don't like that

Check out your clutch. Try going up a hill in a gear that is really to high for it... if ur rpms go up and then drop your clutch is slipping for that time while its up.

the car revs to 1400 after just tapping the gas pedel at all, not while engaging the clutch,
As for the bucking problem that is while decelerating I thought it might be the TPS,
any else have any advise thanx.

well first off you may want to have someone rev the car and see if it is your throttle cable sticking somewhere and you may want to lube that bastard up. Also for the bucking problem to a search on that I'm sure it has come up a few times. Do you have all your emissions???

Possible TPS problem on the letting off the throttle. The design was to shut off the fuel injectors when the pedal is fully released. This does happen if you will look at your fuel injector voltage while driving.

Disconnect the tps and go for a drive and see if the same problem exists.

The problem of the 1400rpms......if the car is fully hot/warmed up when this happens, then it's posssible the bac is not fully seating. You might want to try to remove the bac and spray some carb cleaner inside it. Try doing this with the bac removed but the elec plug connected and with the key to ON. Most bac's will vibrate in this situation and the vibration will help clean it out. This bac solution will have nothing to do with the hesitation when decelerating. Nothing at all. Only the problem you described about 1400rom.

I'm wondering if you're activating the fast idle cam AFTER you start the car?

Try pushing the gas peddle a bit BEFORE you start the car to set the fast idle linkage, if that's your problem then she'll stay at 1400 or so until she warms up, then should never idle that high again while you're running...Until you shut her down and let her cool off before the next start, lol...

TPS is my guess also for the decel bucking...

I did adjusted the TPS and that did fix the bucking problem butt I still do not know WHY IT Idles at 1400 like i said when you start it up idles fine if you give it any gas at all it will idle
at 1400 RPM , Butt only if the car is warm it won't do it cold in fact it idles fine cold.PLEASE ANY INFO IS A GOOD THING Thanx

Have you let her warm up till the fast idle cam is disengaged, then jumpered the initial set coupler (to deactivate the BAC), then set the mechanical idle adjustments per the FSM?

Sure you don't have a vac leak?

It can't be the fast idle, that shuts off if you touch the gas pedal or the clutch.

That's the electronic fast idle you're talking about, controlled by the ECU, better known as the 3K warmup. I'm talking about the mechanical fast idle, controlled by the thermowax and cam/linkage (which happens to give you something around a 1500 idle, BTW)

i have the bucking problem too but i ignore it, whats tps and how do u fix it or adjust it.
