high idle problem

The idle on my son's 87 non turbo won't go under 1500 rpm. The air screw on top of the engine is completely closed. The tsp was adjusted according to the book and the idle loped, by backing out the adjusting screw more the idle leveled out but we can't get it under 1500 rpm. Any ideas put there??

clean your BAC. Test it. Check for a leak anywhere. or a pinched/pulled throttle cable.

I assume you let the car warm up before you tested your TPS?

As stated before, eliminate the BAC to see if that's the problem. Either cut a gasket and place it between the BAC and manifold without the center cutout, or simply plug the end of the BAC so no air will enter. Then give it a try. If idle still high, not the BAC.

I plugged the input of the BAC and the car won't even start. Also, when the car is running and I unplug the input hose from the air funnel, the car stalls right out.

Does this mean that the BAC is bad?

Thanks.
