High idle on first startup

The car is an 87 t2. My car has been undergoing a build for quite some time. Last it ran was about june of 09'. It went out with a suspected turbo. The car would not boost and I had to limp it home from the track on the highway with afr's running rich off the charts. At this point I said well, might as well hit the mods. It's definitely gone farther than I expected. So here we go. I recently did the following, since the last time it ran.

BNR stage 2 hybrid
Apexi power intake w/ custom tid
Greddy fmic
Apexi spec ii bov, tb side
Rtek 2.1
Walbro pump
Rc engineering 750/1000
Fuel pump rewire
Jegs catch can
New rubber fuel lines
Removed rats nest and charcoal
New oil injectors
New oil vacuum spider
New omp lines, custom
New pulsation damper
New fuel pump
New gaskets

Already had:
RB rev t2 exhaust
Koyo rad

I also had the intake manifolds powder coated so the tb was stripped and put back together as well.

I setup the first startup procedure on the rtek.

Started up the car. The idle shot up to 6k rpm. A little high just maybe? Scared the **** out of me so I turned it off right away. I double checked everything. The throttle cable wasn't setup properly it was to loose, so I have yet to try that, but that still wouldn't make sense of the high rpm. Note that the clutch pedal was to the floor, and I was pumping it just to get some pressure and start it up quick. The hard line to the master was leaking. I ordered and have here sitting and ready to go in tomorrow, a new clutch master, new master cylinder, and new hard line.

Tomorrow I take another crack at it and cross my fingers of the engine being fine. I'm comp testing to make sure that's in check. Throughout this time frame, I have turned over the engine with my hand.

Just make sure you take you time and do it all right, instead of doing it twice and again!

I know its going to be hot. Especially after mentioning the powder coating.

read the throttle % off the Rtek. That will give you an idea of whether the throttle plates are being held open too far by something.

I once left a paper towel in my TB elbow, which got wedged in primary throttle plate. You can imagine what that did to my idle.

no you can just turn the key to on to get the reading on the rtek with your palm. To check if something is holding the TB open you will need to the car off so you can remove the throttle elbow

Right on...

Yea I checked the tb, it's all good. The throttle cable was way to loose so the tb wasn't even close to opening.

I'm thinking it has to be either a vacuum leak or fingers pointed at fuel setup.

A vacuum leak probably won't make the car idle at 6000RPM. Triple check your throttle body.

a high idle is easy to diagnose...either your throttle cable or stop screw on the throttle body needs adjusted. my $0.02

I had a similar problem after removing the UIM on my car. The TPS got bumped or something and was reading WOT at idle. When I started the car for the first time it idled at 5K. I set the TPS properly and it idled perfectly. My car is a stock 1991 NA.
