High flow fuel pump?

Ive been thinking of getting a high flow fuel pump that flows 255lph of fuel, but my freind said i would need an ignition system to spark all that fuel or it would burn something out is this true?

u will need a fpr so that way u can control the amount of flow.

I've never heard of that. I don't have any ignition upgrades or a fpr and my car runs fine.

You don't have to have a fpr, but it a good idea to have one if you are planning on turning to boost up a ways.

I just read in your other post that you have a N/A right? No need for a new fuel pump. The stock injectors can handle like 215hp (if I remember right) and that is about all you are gonna get w/ stock ports. Of course you could build a full race engine and get it PP Then you would need to up the fuel system. If you plan on N20, then mabye, but only if youa re runnin more than a 55 shot or so. You will be too rich, and actually loose power on an N/A.

You have the TII resistor pack. You don't need the FPR.

An N/A would need either the TII resistor pack or, even better, an upgraded FPR.

Rico is right, an upgraded pump will make you run rich at almost all loads by over-running the stock FPR. The TII's use the same FPR and a higher flow pump, but run a resistor pack to lower the pump flow at low loads and idle, and use the extra flow to make the extra 40 or so hp, so don't over-run the fpr under WOT.

Adding an upgraded pump to an NA will make you lose power b/c the car will run rich, and will compound an already bad carboning problem at low loads and idle. You can check this with a fuel pressure gauge. The only real way to add an upgraded pump to the NA is to add an upgraded, aftermarket, high flow FPR.

The only case needing a higher flow pump is major porting (BP or higher), or a form of forced induction, such as a supercharger, turbocharger, or nitrous oxide injection.

Kind of a bronze colour... it is about 2 inches in diameter, and just below the oil filter. One wire comes off it.

It looks like a big mushroom sticking out the side of the rear housing with a plug attached to it, look under the oil filter.

wait whats a FPR ? Is it a SAFC ? Will better plugs and wires be good enough for around 14PSI ? Thanks

An FPR (fuel pressure regulator) regulates the amount of fuel pressure in the fuel rails.

An SAFC is a super air fuel controller, an electronic device which has the ability to alter fuel injector duty cycles, and thus fuel injector delivery. It is not an FPR.

Plugs and wires will not be good enough for 14psi.

You will need injectors, an S-AFC at the minimum, intercooler, upgraded pump, and dyno tuning, at the very minimum.

Depends on what is all involved in the hybrid upgrade, boost level, other mods, and a form of fuel control.

Just adding a pair of larger secondaries and an upgraded turbo and you car will hardly run over 3800 rpm.
