I have an apex'i n1 and it's sporty if you like LOUD, VERY LOUD. You can barely hold a conversation in the car, and your also going to need to get a highflow cat and headers. (or a bonez manifold back deal).

I just got
RB Collected headers: 200 - fc3s.org
RB Silencer: 200 - Fc3s.org
Apex'i n1 : 400 shipped - Slightly used off ebay

Very loud, very fast (for an n/a )

Oh yeah, if you like music your gonna need a louder stereo.

Hey! I just bought a 1988 RX-7 too! But I joined a while ago, and this is the third 7 I own...

Anyway, I really don't have any suggestions on exhaust myself yet. I'm workin' on a T-II engine swap and drive train on my '86 GXL first. The exhaust will prolly come next, along with the intake. Welcome to the comunity. Lot's of really great people around here, I've found. Good luck with the project!

Yea my project could turn out sweet but i need money, im only 16 so it can be hard to come by ya know. But for starters i only intend to spend 5 grand overall so... Also im a big fan of drifting and am going to try and get it to drift specs. I love cars and modded/modding cars and its my dream to have a bunch of modded imports so i hope my car will turn out looking good.

Don't we all drive 88 Rx7s at some point? Welcome to the club. I have an SE, and my exhaust just has some sort of glasspacks (they're probably SS packed) and a pair of chrome tips, but it sounds pretty good. It's somewhere between hi-po rice burner and exotic sports car. It's fairly smooth, and only whines above about 4 grand. But all 7s whine. Rotaries whine, I've found. Mine whines so much it sounds turbo... but I know it's not, and I don't try to pretend it is. If I had turbo, I'd be dead by now...

Yea, REALLY LOUD. The silencer makes the car sounds retarded, but I do like being able to hear my craptastic speakers and person next to me. When I autocrossing I'll remove the tip so the performance is back(it does kill alot of your power when its on.

I also have an '88 RX-7 but mine is a convertable. I'm interested having as much as the exhaust system replaced as possible but I'm not sure where to start. Can I replace a section at a tine? Should I look at a single exhaust or should a do a dual like it has now?

There is a really good exhaust thread on the board right now, go take a peek at that. You can replace the exhaust piece by piece if you want to. Single and duel is more of personal preference. Singles usally are louder, cheaper, and weighs less. Duels, are quieter, cost more, and look better. It really is up to you. There are a ton of threads on single vs. duel. Alot on nice info in those threads.
