Hesitation at 2k rpm

For anyone in the tampabay area, I was going out to Gandy Blvd to hangout. Before I left, I noticed that my 89 gxl would not accelerate past 2000 rpms without sticking at 2grand. For instance, When i stop at a stop light and stomp on it, it slowly goes to 2k and will literally stop at 2k for about a second and then VERY slowly power to 3k, then the car will start taking off like it normally would. It's very anoyying The car runs fine as long as its more than 2k rpms...I have no idea what this would be, possibly some sensor? So any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
-Thanks

pull codes from the ecu. scott89t2 has the procedure on his website. its probably one (or more) sensors. all though, i've never heard of a 2000rpm problem before. weird.
