So I had my power steering pump and rack put in but when the lines were supposed to be put in the threading was different. I snapped some pics of the pump and the rack. Could someone tell me which parts are s4 and which parts are s5? Thanks! Tried searching but nothing had pictures..

btw I have looked in both fsm's and they both look the same because the pictures suck lol.

are you talking about the pump or the rack? Are the pumps the same for both s4 and s5?

also, everyone keeps on saying 3 lines is speed sensing... but that doesn't tell me if my pump is is an s4 or s5 speed sensing pump because I know those are different. Can anyone tell which one I have from the pic?

 

If I remember later tonight, I'll take some pictures of an S4 NA P/S pump (convertible) and S4 TII P/S pump and post them up.

 

you have a 3 line pump, you can tell cause there are 2 pressure line fittings, the 2 line pump only has one. they both have a non pressure return line

i usually look at the sticker on the rack, the 2 line rack is an FC01, the 3 line rack is FB17 or FB55 or FB78 or something

the 3 line speed sensing steering is used from 86-92, in fact its the first system like that in a car.

the RPM steering occurs on the base model s5's

 

you seriously can't tell if you have 2 or 3 lines coming off the pump ?
