Question HELP!!!!(please)

just bought an 87 rx7 2+2
------------------------
ran perfect last night but this morning when i went to start it she flooded out and 4 hrs later she still wont start.....grrrrrrr

have taken out plugs and dried and cleaned them about 6 times now,,,,also put clamps on the two fuel lines to cut the fuel just to turn the motor over trying to dry out the cylinder (or what ever you call them),,,,then put the clean and dry plugs back in and turn the motor over for 6-10 seconds and the plugs are soaked again,,,,,,,,,,,,,any suggestions?

im getting a decent spark from all four wires

also
there are four coil packs
L1 L2 T1 T2 is stamped on them i know the blue T1 and T2 are the top and the L1 and 2 are lower
'
now does the T1 and L1 go to the back of the motor and the T2 and L2 fo to the front of the motor,,,,,that is how i have them,,,,,,am i right??????
thanks Brent

i got them mixed up somehow i think

T1 and L1 go to front rotor. T2 and L2 go for back rotor. While T stand for trailing and L means leading, it's easiest to think of it as T for top and L for Lower.

Exclamation

Ok back to square1..

bad flooding problem.grrrrrrrr

ran great last night,,,,i was working on the back glass and the car sat for a half hour at an idle,,,purring like a kitten.
went to start this morning and it started ok,,,,,,backed up,, the car stalled then it flooded trying to restart it left blacking grey smoke out the back.

i took out the plugs (4) and dried and cleaned them,,,put them back in and it tried to start.

did this 2 more times then took out the plugs and left them out while i turned the engine over to clean gas out of the cylinders. while out i checked for a good spark,,,,,,,,it had that.

compression feels good
couldnt find any vac leaks
injectors seem to spray nice

while turning over the motor with no plugs i noticed and EXTREMELY HEAVY fog/mist of gas coming out of the holes,,,,,,even after holes should have been cleaned out the gas just kept coming........figured that just might be normal in a rotary.

ok put clean/dry plugs back in and turned motor over for 10 secs,,, it tried to start but then stoped and proceeded to sling black smoke out the exhaust,,,,,,,pulled plugs and are drenched in fuel.

did the same thing but clamped the fuel line above the filter,, and after 5-8 seconds of turning over the mist was gone,,,i could spray starting fluid into the throttle body and it would run fine but when you unclamp that fuel line it would dump fuel in.

i am guessing on the culprit here,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but since it runs of Starting fluid and gets too much fuel would that be the fuel pump regulator?????

i traced some vac lines around the motor and found a vac operated valve at the end of the fuel rail,,,and from there it went to a little electronic box on the drivers side of the motor (was black with a twin box right next to it)

Its just getting way too much fuel!!!!!!!

any thoughts here????? are there any notorious failures for problems like mine,,,,,what would be the best place to start (fuel pump pressure regulator???????????????)
i will get a book this week from autozone.
thaks again
Brent

Do the unflooding trick. Pull the EGI fuse from the engine bay fuse box, crank the engine about 4-5 times for a few seconds each time. What I mean is, after you've pulled the fuse, go in the car, crank for a few seconds, stop sit for a few seconds, crank again for a few seconds, stop, etc. After that put the fuse back in and get in the car and try to start it. Try giving it some gas if it sounds like its almost starting but cant quite get there.

after taking out the fuse,,,,,,i heard those four boxes click,,,,,are they part of the fuel pressure control (somehow?) the box to the rear is the one i was mentioning in one of my last posts,,,,,,,

thanks for the advice but it didnt work,,,,just way to much fuel DUMPING in,,,,,,,,,what could cause that other than pressure regulator????

my 87 TII flooded today - and i called for help (since i was atm stranded) and thank god for forum guys - told me to pull the two fuzes and crank it to get it unflooded - poped em back in - and vvvroom started right up - He said the problem is probobly leaking injectors, or clogged/stuck in the open position or something of that nature. Might want to check the injectors.

IF you read the writeup, you'll see that it's my opinion and observation that low engine compression is the major contributing factor to flooding, especially constant flooding when warm. Sometimes you'll get lucky and cleaning injectors can help or fix the problem, but the cleanest injectors in the world won't combat the effects of a weak engine. The fuel cutoff switch is the way around this...go ahead and install one now, so you will be able to unflood your car easily on your own.

You don't need to clamp the lines, just pull the EGI fuse like stated above and crank it over for a second and then put the fuse back in. I had hot starting problems in 100 degree heat, and it worked every time..

That engine would be amazing in your RX-7, just take it to the track before you kill yourself..
