Help picking color
Ok I have found someone to help teach me how to do bodywork (thank god). I will be hopefully ready to paint in a few weeks. I am still extremely undecided on the color. I will put a poll on here but please feel free to add color suggestions. Thanks

You should check out this site http://www.alsacorp.com
I got the paint for my 1st gen there. They have a bunch of crazy stuff, but I just went with one of their base coats.

This is the first car i painted. The guy that is helping me has 30years of expierience and will be there the whole time. I think I have decided not to go with black cause of the heat here in Florida. Im liking the charcoal or maybe gunmetal. My issue with gunmetal is finding wheels that i will like that will accent the car. ive got a few weeks to decide while i prep the car

Its a really hard color to match when painting a vehicle, it also fades at a random rate.
Actually white, also like black, will show just as much its a weird color. Not only that but you'll never be able to blend white to match as good as any other color, next to silver its the most difficult.

While white is a bitch to keep clean - what I think was meant by it 'showing everything,' Black is the biggest bitch to detail.
**** up doing a wet-sand and buff on a white car, you can get away with a bit.... **** up a BLACK one and you better dig in, soldier; this one's gonna hurt.

While that color-combination WOULD look impressive, I don't think Mike's living that far into the ghetto.
Sure, on a showier car, that might rock hard, but, much like that, 'Root Beer Metallic' FD that was FS, in the Florida panhandle, you just can't pimp a massive color, like that, on a seven.

White is forgiving. Dunno about that Alpine white, but a good clean oem white is easy to paint and buff without making an amateur look, well amateurish.
Avoid metallics and pearls on your first paint job. If you have to wetsand and buff the results will be uneven.
FWIW, whites are easy to keep looking good. An oem white will look clean when it has some road film on it. Try to pick a white that is not pure white, since there is not really a 'pure' white anyway. Whites tend to have either some yellow in them or some blue in them. The blue-whites will be 'alpine' or 'glacier'. The yellow-whites will be 'cameo' or 'ivory'. These whites are easier to keep.
Black will look horrible with a certain amount of road film. That same amount of road film will be unnoticable on a white paint, especially the yellow-whites. Really. I have had 5 white cars in the last 15 years.
And remember 90% of a good paint job is in prep work. The other half is in the paint gun...
Good luck.

This new math! J/K!!
I have painted a few as well, no professional painter but it's is true, the quality is in the prep.
White= better for dirt, but no eye appeal. Very stealthy; especially to sponsors, they don't see it! But easy to use as a base. The more tricky or showy the paint is, the harder to repair after a wreck, if you actually drive hard.
Black = shows every imperfection and dirt/dust.
Yellow= hides everything.
Pick your own color, after all, you don't want to second guess your own desire for a color.
