help once again

k, im one of those type of ppl that know a fair bit about cars and the terminolgoy and **** but lack the hands on skills. Lately I've been working on my car a lot and I installed my own fuel pump and rewired it, changed fog light bulbs, relocated battery... just little things like that. This is in a sense the first big thing that I'm doing. I'm trying to remove my turbo so I can port the wastegate. The porting part wont be a problem but I'm having difficulty removing the turbo. I'm at the stage where i shouold disconnect the vacume lines but there are like 10 different vacume lines (over exagerating slightly) and i dont know which ones to disconnect. Please help and if u can pictures would be cool :p

There aren't actually any vacuum lines on the turbo, just oil and water lines. If you look at page 4B-57 (S4) or F2-42 (S5) in the FSM, there are step-by-step instructions for turbo removal. Just disconnect/remove each item in the recommended order. The hardest bit is figuring out which tools to use and which angle to approach to remove the bolts holding the turbo on. That bit you need to figure out for yourself.

You need to get the FSM. Go to www.teamfc3s.org and download the chapters you need. In this case you want the Fuel and Emission Controls chapter. If you have an S4 (you still haven't told us what your car is) you should download the same chapter for the S5. This applies to all chapters really. Most of the info is the same, and the pictures are much clearer.

theres a line that sees boost going to the wastegate (that could be confused as a vacuum line).. thats the only thing i can think of.

There are two devices bolted to the side of the intake manifold. The top one is the Bypass Air Control (BAC) valve that controls idle speed; and the lower one is the Air control Valve (ACV) that controls the secondary air injection system (emissions).

The air pump, ACV, split air pipe and cat should all be removed together, because if you remove one component only the rest become redundant. Don't leave the stock cat in place without its air source or it'll clog. Don't worry bout the BAC valve. it's for idle control, not emissions.

The ACV needs a block-off plate but the split air pipe does not. Cap any vac lines you disconnect. The pressure sensor line is normally plugged into the ACV, so you'll need to tee it into the BOV line.
