Help with Nitirous on FC
First off I did a search and didnt find exactly what I wanted. Okay, my friend has a 89 N/A RX7, he is wanted to build it up and run a direct port 150 shot of nitrious. I sugested that he get his motor race ported (Big street port), and completly rebuilt, useing Hurrley 2mm apex seals, all that is gonna be done by a rotory specialist in the Seatle. And of course he will have all the suporting mods and bolt ons; fuel pump, headers, MSD ignition with timing retard, etc... I just want to know what other mods, if any, he might need, and what kinda things should he look to upgrade internaly in the motor, besides the apex seals. Thanks for any info.

hardened stationary gears. S5 lightweight rotors. intake. cooling system upgrades. dowell pin the whole motor. torqe brace. fuel lines. Fuel pressure regulator. bigger injectors. standalone or fuel computer. all the gauges. TII transmission and drivetrain. new clutch. TII counterweight and flywheel. it goes on. maybe someone else can keep filling in. hope he has lots of $$$

The key is going to be in the tuning. I would recommend a progressive controller to allow the nitrous to come on gradually over a period of milliseconds or seconds to full power to minimize the stress on the seals but it shouldn't be absolutely needed. Anothe option is a staged setup. For a shot that big go with a wet shot. You gotta have fuel. Scathcart really is the nitrous person here.

If he's got an '89... its VERY dificult to port the motor... check out mazdatrix porting page http://www.mazdatrix.com/engsp6p.htm
If you're going go to tear the motor apart.... I'd sugest getting turboII rotor housings and have the exhaust ports done on those.
If it hasn't been done yet have the cold start oil pellet on the eccentric saft done to prevent it from sticking and thus puking the motor since its gonna be torn apart anyway!
And a 150 shot???? you might also want to think about getting a beefier drive train.
Oh.... and some health insurance..... thats a big shot!!

Its not VERY difficult to port a 6 port motor...talk to the engine builders on here that do it daily on 13B's. TII rotor housings are desirable b/c they dont have the exhaust diffuser. I personally believe that the money put into a n/a isn't worth it if power is your goal, but the bottle will help alot!! I just prefer the boost route. But Judge Ito has had mega success with nitrous on his setups it sounds like!
