You may want to check the toggle switch first. It's on the console.... same thing was wrong with mine: popping it out and unplugging it, then carefully open it up with a very small screwdriver you may be able to clean it. Then put the parts back to gether - then try it..

The shop manual goes over how to test it. I'd check that first - motors are big $, the switch fix is free.

make sure the hand brake is on as well. The tops are not supposed to move unless the hand brake is pulled up.

most of them do, I think it was something that they just put in the owners manual.

most of them do that as well after 10+ years.

which side does it leak on? mine has original top and leaks on one side only...the passenger side.....after reaching my hand in the rain pocket to clean out any obstructions i found some holes by the originally designed drain hole. im going to give it a temp fix until i can afford a new top...but if it fixes the only leak then ill try and give a little write up on where the leaks were and the temp fix,...etc.

as for the post..i know that if you take apart the interior trim that goes along the door well and the seatbelt sorta goes into a slit in it...behind that is a bolt that connects the top motors to the leverage system that moves the top. its not just a couple of turns( so there maybe an easier fix...like that of the headlamp motor/) but a 1 or so inch bolt that comes out and then the top is manual...like i said ive heard what youve heard that theres a screw...but also ive taken this particular bolt out and i know that it makes it a manual top.

good luck

As with anything electrical, the first thing you should check is the fuse.
