Help with my door.

I recently posted a question about door locks...well i took apart my door lock, and fixed the lock cylinder. When i put it back together, I thought that i put all the rods and stuff back together properly. I guess i was wrong though, cause when i shut my door it wouldnt open....at all. I spent a longass time trying to get it open, but didnt. Does anyone have any suggestions, cause as of now, i either have to open the passenger side and climb in, or climb in through the window.
Thanks a lot guys.

a couple of options, since it sounds like either you didn't hook the release rob back up or it is disconnected at the latch:

#1 pull the passengers door panel off so you can see the mech is the door, then bend a rod/hanger/slim jim that you can use to stick down the driver's side to grab and release the drivers door latch.

#2 remove all the screws you can get to on the drivers door interior panel and then distroy the panel to get at the mech in the door.

I have complete access behind the panel...because i never put the panel back on. It seems as if the handles on either side of the door, dont work. Im pretty sure the door is unlocked, but it still wont open. Is there a way to open it without using the handles...like with a screw driver nside the panel or something. thanks

You could have something routed incorrectly, but usually when you rebuild the door mechanism and it doesn't work, the problem is that you need to re-adjust the height of the nylon clamp on the rod. See the top left picture here:

I have had the best luck setting the door lock rod by pressing down on rod while pulling up on outside door handle and pushing the rod towards outside of car until it snaps in place in plastic retainer, and then closing the clasp.

BTW, how are things in Fayettenam nowadays?

A friend of mine kept a hoe in his trunk area. He would use the key to open the rear hatch, and use the hoe to unlock the driver's door so he didn't have to crawl in the car.

Related true silly story: We had to throw one of our friends in the back of the car to transport him a short distance (kids, don't try this on public roads). We told him he had to sit in back with the hoe, and he was really excited to ride along until he saw that it was a hoe rather than a ho.

I guess the ricers finally overtook the hoopties and monster trucks, lol.
