Unhappy Help me keep the pings away

Alright I got a 87 N/A and I am going to put a turbo and hopefully I heard you can put the S4T2 intake manifold on the 6 port motor but you have to port it. so What do I need to get to keep it from pinging.
I have basically have a complete blown S4 t2 motor with Ecu and fuel pump, and plan on buying a FMIC. AND yes I know I should just buy a T2 but I dont have that kind of money and the N/A has a new motor in it with only 10,000 miles on it. Any help will be apprecciated.

Sell the running NA motor and get a rebuild kit for the T2 motor. Then swap out all of the components and you'll have a reliable turbo rx-7, well sorta. The NA motor should yield you enough money to get the other motor going and some extra to get the bits and pieces. I think it is possible to run the NA drivetrain off of the T2 motor as long as you keep the horsepower to a minimum and drive with a little caution.

NO see there is no T2s around here and I dont want to end up selling my car because everyone around here wants rip you off. Way more hassle then hooking a turbo up to a N/A.

Go ask Aaron Cake how much hassle he had - this is a *BIG* job to do. It's not as simple as bolting on a turbo and "keeping the pings away" - lots of fabrication, lots of downtime.

I've seen decent '87-88 TII's going for $2000-3000. Save your pennies and get one to go with your car - who says you have to have just one car? If you can't afford to buy another car, reconsider the project - you're gonna need some way to get to work when your car is down for months on end. Trust me, it will be - if you try and slap something together on the weekend and still make it to work on Monday, you're going to end up with a rigged mess that will never run properly.

Might also want to go through the forum and see how many "I want to convert my NA to a turbo" posts there are, and how many "my NA to turbo conversion is running" posts there are. That should give you an idea of the magnitude of the project.

I think what Samps meant was to sell your engine and get a T2 engine. I don't know about the manifolds stuff, but you can custom build a spacer for the exhaust manifold.

You will need a SAFC, and a T2 fuel pump at least.

the t2 motor is from a junk car that has the driveline with it. but I know the t2 motor cant run after sitting for a few years. Everytime I mention hooking a turbo to a 6 port motor every t2 guy says "just buy a t2"
well thats one of my last optoins. just need alittle help getting the turbo hooked up to the N/A

Read through Aaron Cake's whole process of his NA to TII conversion - it's one serious job. Best have a good set of tools and a garage to work in as well.

It isn't as simple as just "getting the turbo hooked up to the NA" - this is one serious undertaking with a LOT of things that can go wrong.

I'm trying to say this up front so 4 months from now you're not posting up your "half-converted NA" for sale that you can't get running. I've seen it happen many times.

I say take the tranny and T2 junk engine rebuild the engine and sell your NA engine. You have all the parts for the swap these guys don't understand though. Maybe Craig would buy it for his roasted toasted 7
