Help me Im buying a 1988FC TURBO II
i just found an FC 1988 turbo II, the car is in questionable shape, it runs the idle seems normal, the turbo isnt cracked (at least from the outside) it has 98k miles on it, and it just got a tranny from a 88 with only 70k miles on it. Now the problems are the drivers door doesnt open from the outside, the paint is almost all sanded off, windshield cracked, back shocks are a little saggy and squeak a little, car leaks little oil when started up. little rusting on the . The one of the dual exhausts has been welded shut due to it falling off , the whole exhaust t is very rusty. I am buying this car to fix it up and learn about rotaries. The guy is asking 2000 for it, good deal or go lower? any tips as to what i should look for or is this a good deal?
any help is much appreciated thanks all !

thought 88 was the sweet year for fc? some article claimed that at least since it was the anniversary year lol.
around 2k.. if everything was good, easily 4k. Its an old car over 20 years, you cant expect it to start up and run like a new born kitten.
Saves you the trouble of buying a NA *esp a 4lug model* and than doing a turbo swap down the road..
Low miles on chassis are a plus. exhaust should be up for replacement about now anyways.
Turbo may still be ok.. you can remove the intake hose from it, and stick your finger inside to feel the turbine and just try moving it around to see if it rotates free or has any shaft play.
The door handles seem to be a common issue, plastics on it break or wear out.
Waits for someone to post on this forum "some asshat tried to lowball me with $800 for my 88 TII" lol

well rested,buffet o food
I still would have checked the engine compression first.......but i really cant argue too much. 1500.00 for a t2 not a bad deal. Good job, man. worst case scenario (within reason), is that you have to shell out another 1300.00 or so for a jspec. Regardless, 2800.00 for a t2 is a hell of a deal.
Lets hope its 1500.00 though.
