Question Help Me Before I Die? Please?

So I have this problem with my fc3s for a while now. Its a stock 1987 N/A just to let you people know. Here's the problem. My steering begins to shake very hard when I going over 60-70 MPH. Its so strong and rapid, it almost looks like my jacking off. Sometimes, when I go up this highway its cool on this slight turn but once it hits the straight away, the car starts to shake again. It's weird because I can't find out what's causing this. At first I thought it was my alignment but I got an alignment and it still sucks *****. Now, I'm thinking could it be that my wheels are not balance or I need new tires because mine are pretty old. Then today, I found out about the DTSS and how it can make your car unstable at high speed which sounds like my problem. So, any help or suggestions that I can do? Before I die? Because it's my DD to school and I'm in high school with no job so I'm broke but I can always start saving up.

You might need to replace anything from wheel bearings to tie rods. Could be anything on the suspension or wheel set up to be causing it. Stuff is getting old. So might need some changing.

Balance the wheels first, but it sounds like a wheel bearing or possibly a tie rod end. DTSS going bad gives a very perceptible rear end wiggle when in transition or shifting, so it doesn't sound like that is the problem.

So how much you think it would cost to fix the wheel bearing and tie rod end?

I had a Ford Taurus that did that... got new tie rod ends and put them on got an alignment and it stopped. the tie rods were 40$ but that was for a ford so there probably more $ for a rx7. The tie rods are pretty easy to put in if your pretty good with mechanics and look up how to do it if you don't know how.

1.balance and rotate(doesnt cost much and is good to do)
2.(if problem still there)get wheels off ground, and try to find play in the suspention parts by trying to wiggle the wheels left and right and up and down.If it wiggles up and down and also left and right is most likely the bearings(dont replace parts without checking them)

3. Find a better mechanic shop they should have let you know what was causing it before they did an alignment. Especially if its a bad tie rod or any sort of suspension part that has to do w/ alignments.

It's worth repeating...find a shop that checks things properly before raping you in the wallet. Even a good DIYer will do this. Could be worn tie rod or wheel bearings, because as you apply a load to the side (turning) the load pushes the parts that have play against each other.

Take the bus in the mean time if you don't want to become a statistic, needlessly. If it helps, think of the fu*ks you'll miss out on.

^^^i was thinking the same thing as the last two replies. they shouldn't have tried to align a car with lose alignment-related parts. after fixing the problem, if the alignment shop was indeed in the wrong, i would demand (nicely, of course) a free realignment.

however, i can't imagine a shop that wouldn't jump on a legitimate opportunity to replace things that needed to be replaced...maybe they just have no idea what they are doing.

driveshaft problems usually aren't associated with narrow speed ranges.

Yeah, I got my alignment at Firestone by Hill Top Mall. It must be the tires since they most likely check what was wrong with the suspensions. Or they are no good in this kind of stuff and need to get it checked up at some other place.

Swap front tires to back, see if the steering wheel shakes any less. Easy way to tell if the tires are part (or all) of the problem. Even brand new tires (of questionable quality) can produce balancing problems. Been there, now I know better.
