Help! Lost Prolock

I have a 91 vert with a ProLock anti theft system. Basically it's a chip that plugs in and allows the car to start. I lost the key and work and had to tow the car home. Does anyone know how to bypass the ProLock so I can start the car?

well if your car started before the system, it can be uninstalled? Who wants to carry one of those keys anyways. Just make a fuel cut off switch and hide it

The system worked, a bit of a hassle. Im not looking for ideas on how to set up a better system, just how to get around the thing. I'm pretty sure it intercepts power to the ignition, so I just have to find out how to byass and then remove.

Since I have power locks already, I'm going to have a shop in the area install an alarm with keyless entry. Im just afraid they will charge more to mess with the ProLock. (Plus I don't want to have to tow it there)

You can remove it yourself. It 's just wired to the starter wire coming out of the ignition switch. It should take you about 10 minutes to remove it. Take the bottom panel off and you will see where the starter wire was cut. I used to install these things years ago.

Thanks for the reply. The thing looks like it has about 8 wires leading from where the keylock is put in. I just follow those up to the Ignition wire coming from where I put in the main key to start the car? Then I remove the prolock wires and reconnect the starter wire?

Yep, that's pretty much it. Out of all those wires you should only see 2 connected to the starter wire. The rest of the wires will most likely be grounded and you can cut them off.

That was too quick. The longest part was removing the four screws of the lower panel to get it out of the way. Clip the tape away, snip the two wires and reconnect the starter wire. I'll remove the other four that were bolted to ground tomorrow in the daylight. Thanks again for the quick reply and advice.
