I met a fellow forum member yesterday who has a nice 2nd gen, but the car confuses me. Can someone help me identify what model of car it is, he just says "base".
'89 N/A
brilliant black
no sunroof
stock spoiler
5 bolt wheels
single piston calipers all around but with the big rotors
black interior (maybe leather, forgot to look)
he had just put new rims on and said that the ones on there before were like winter rims with hub caps on them (15")
manual windows
The thing that confuses myself and everyone else who saw the car was that it had 5 bolt with single piston calipers all around... it doesnt make sence!
Could this car be a GTUs and the owner not know?
AHHH Im confused!
Thanks guys

Sounds like a GTU. I had a parts car that was almost identical to that description. The part that is confusing is the sunroof. I dont know if any GTU ever came without a sunroof.

All s5s were 5 lug. GTU was a base model, has manual widows and single piston calipers. I never saw one with no sunroof, but apparently they made one :-) Thay came standard with spoilers too. ONly the GTU has the smaall 5 lug calipers...the t2, gxl, and gtus had the big 4 piston setup.

Thanks guys. Yeah that was the first time that I had seen a s5 up close, so I never really got the chance to check one out before.
GTU it is.
To do the swap from single piston to 4 piston on the front, is all that you have to change is the caliper then? or do you still have to get different rotors?
