Ok, heres the scoop. Car had cracked TID. Startup, then die(unless warm??). Made 3in TID, and added K&N cone. Car starts, doesent die, idles at 2000-2200rpm. ??? Adjusted TPS, WAY OFF!!. Best adjustment I could get was 1.06 at idle throttle position, 3.96 at WOT. A hair under allowable specs. Oh well. Put things back together, start car. Bouncy idle, 1500-16/1700. ??? Tired to adjust idle with BAC screw, and nothing happened? Get back in the car, give it gas, and the pedal is REAL stiff. What the hell is going on????

stiff throttle

Sounds like you somehow managed to get the trottle cable off its track. Check the pulley in the rear where the throttle cable attaches. You will probably find the cable is half off. This makes the mechanical advantage much less and creates the stiff pedal. Been there, done that.

I couldnt reach the throttle linkage, so I just fooled with the cable. I probably knocked it off. Ill check.

My TPS is out of allowable spec, but could it cause a "bouncy" idle? Im looking for a new one. Ive heard they are the same on 86-88 all models.

yeah, i'm guessing if its outta spec as well it would cause the bouncy idle. when i test mine, it was wayyy off...and when i tried to adjust the screw the ******' thing wouldn' move AT ALL! do you have a nut on the end of the adjustment screw? mine does and that won't move either. so i'm just gonna throw a new one in. i know www.parts.com , or www.mazdatrix.com , or any mazda dealership should have them (or order them)
